The Superintendency of the Securities Market (SMV) and the Latin American Stock Exchange (Latinex) warn the community about the circulation of false content in digital environments that improperly use the image of public figures and the financial/stock market sector to promote alleged investment opportunities.

In some cases, this content includes videos that have been manipulated or generated through the misuse of artificial intelligence tools, with the purpose of impersonating people, feigning legitimacy, and generating undue trust in the public.

Both the SMV and Latinex reiterate that these types of publications and materials do not correspond to official communications and may be part of fraudulent schemes.

Given this situation, we recommend acting with special caution and taking the following recommendations into account:

  • Be wary of any investment offer that promises quick, guaranteed, or extraordinary profits.
  • Always verify that the information comes from official sources and properly identified institutional channels.
  • Do not share personal, banking, or financial information through unverified links, forms, or platforms.
  • Do not make transfers or investments based on social media posts, viral videos, or alleged interviews that have not been confirmed by official media and entities.
  • Report and denounce this type of content on the digital platforms where it appears and, if possible, to the competent authorities.

It is important to remember that investment decisions should be made with verified information, through authorized intermediaries and within the framework of formally established channels in the stock market.

The SMV, as the regulatory and supervisory body, and Latinex, as a key infrastructure of the Panamanian securities market, reiterate their commitment to investor protection, market integrity, and the promotion of a culture of prevention against financial fraud and digital impersonation schemes.

These types of incidents reinforce the importance of financial education, verifying sources, and the responsible use of technology. Trust in the stock market is built on transparency, timely information, and constant vigilance against risks that could affect the investment community.

We invite the public to stay informed exclusively through the official channels of the Superintendency of the Securities Market, Latinex and other regulated and supervised entities.

Prevention is also a form of protection.
